Certified measured course South of England
England Athletics Licence no: applied for
Race Referee: Chris Harbord
Adnams Charity Sponsorship Form 2011
Many thanks for your entry, please read the notes below.
Registration: There will be no on-the-day registration; everything should be included in your pack. Please remember to bring your race number, pins and timing chip with you. Your number must be worn on the front of your shirt. Please do not change it or give it to anyone else or run without your number. Please fill in the form on the reverse of your number where you can list any medical conditions, current medication and the contact number of someone who should be informed in the event of an accident or illness.
Parking: Parking is tricky at the best of times in Southwold, please car-share where possible or get your loved ones/chauffer to drop you off at the Pavilion (postcode IP18 6TB). The Trustees at the Common have kindly agreed to allow us to park by the Pavilion again this year, but spaces are limited. Additional public car parks are located at Gardiner Road and the Harbour.
Changing: Facilities are available at the Pavilion, although there is no secure storage so any items left will be at your own risk. Unfortunately there are no shower facilities.
The Course: Starting on the road leading down from the Pavilion to the Harbour Inn, runners will complete two full loops along Blackshore, up Ferry Road, turn left into Gardiner and along Godyll Road and then down York Road. When you see the Harbour Inn for the third time, you will continue along Blackshore, up Ferry Road and then up Queen’s Road to the finish line just before the Red Lion pub.
Take Care: There is one section of the route along Blackshore, which has loose gravel, bumps and big holes. The Council have promised to fill in some of the bigger holes in advance, but please take extra care along this section. It may also make it difficult for entrants in wheelchairs. Finally, there is one section in York Road along the marshes which can flood – please note that you may get wet feet!
The Finish: We are using timing chips again this year and doubling up with manual recording. At the finish line and you will be directed along the chute to have your number recorded. From here, you can collect your goodie bag – including the all important bottle of Adnams beer (over 18s only), bottle of M&S water, bag of Percy Pigs and a participants medal. Co-op bananas and bags of Kettle Chips will also be available for runners.
Awards: Our plan is for Steve Cram and Allison Curbishly to present the prizes shortly after 12.15pm on South Green.
Time limits: Please note there is a time limit of 90 minutes, as roads must be opened by 12.30pm
Fitness: Please make sure you have done sufficient training. If you have a cold, swine flu or man flu or are in any way unfit or unwell on the day, then please do not run.
Results: We hope to post the results on our website www.adnams10k.co.uk as soon after the event as we can.
Thanks: To you for taking part, but also to our sponsors Marks and Spencer, Kettle Chips, Southwold Press, DB Signs and Xactive. To our advisor and referee Chris Harbord and to Steve Cram, Allison Curbishly and Abbie Thorrington for being our special guests. Finally to all the volunteers who gave up their time to make this a special event.
Will you be posting the race packs out shortly,as I haven’t received mine yet?
Race packs go out this week.
Thanks
Sean
Morning, I have not received pack yet. If it does not arrive in the post this week is there a back up plan? Should I collect on Sunday morning? Or can you send out another pack on Wednesday, worse case scenario?
All packs were sent out 2nd class on Friday so should be landing on doormats today/tomorrow.
